Patent filings in India reached a record 1,43,729 in 2025–26, up about 30% in a year, and most now come from Indian applicants. Universities alone file tens of thousands of applications a year.
The AI drafting tools that exist are built for US and European practice. Indian practice has its own forms, its own examination report patterns and its own hard cases, such as software claims under section 3(k).
